Dear friends,
Greetings to all of you. I wanted to reach out with an important upcoming event and a few significant prayer needs.
✈️ Feb 19 – Flight into Mibu
On February 19 (February 18 here in the U.S.), we've been able to arrange a flight into Mibu to attempt to restore the internet system. Two individuals will be flying in, including an IT specialist who is hoping to get our existing system back online.
There are many logistics involved in something like this, so we would deeply appreciate your prayers:
-
The airstrip has not been mowed for some time (the lawnmower is currently not working), so it is being cut by hand — a great deal of labor.
- The lawnmower not working has been a big deal as well, so, that's another thing we're hoping some time can be allocated to as a secondary priority to getting the internet online. Pray for that too please.
-
Pray for the pilot and aircraft safety.
-
Pray for the IT specialist — that he would be able to get our original system online again.
-
Pray that none of the equipment has failed or become too outdated to bring back online.
-
Pray for favorable weather.
We are asking you to keep that date in mind and pray that this essential system can be made functional again. Internet access plays a key role in both communication and ministry continuity.
🙏 Growing Discouragement in the Church
In addition to the technical situation, I've begun to sense something heavier developing spiritually. The limited communication I've been receiving indicates discouragement is beginning to set in among some of the church and leaders.
Much of this likely ties back to Chris's sudden departure. The reduction in external support and presence has been significant. What I'm hearing suggests an increase in gambling, alcohol consumption, and sexual promiscuity in some areas. Fewer men are attending church meetings. Some leaders are feeling pressure and criticism from within the community.
I don't have many details — only the growing sense that discouragement and spiritual fatigue are creeping in. It would be understandable if some feel abandoned. This is certainly a trying season. At the same time, I remain convinced that the Lord can use even this for the church's long-term strengthening and maturity. May the church in Mibu feel the Lord's continued presence, and know that he'll never abandon them, but only continue to form them and draw them closer to their future hope in Him.
Please pray for:
-
renewed courage and conviction among the believers
-
unity and perseverance among the leaders
-
protection from the enemy's attempts to exploit discouragement
-
growing sense of their identity in Christ no matter the circumstances
🌱 Looking Ahead: A Summer Visit
I had hoped to travel to Mibu this spring, but the necessary pieces simply are not in place. I am now prioritizing a trip sometime this summer.
Angie is also planning to be in PNG during that window and hopes to make a brief visit into Mibu to say some proper goodbyes. Please pray for the finances and logistics for this trip to come together, and that it would be deeply encouraging and fruitful for the church.
Thank you for continuing to stand with us through your prayers and faithful financial partnership. We are deeply grateful for the many who have helped carry this ministry forward during such a pivotal season. As we look ahead—with important travel, technical needs, and ongoing translation and lesson development work—we are still working toward reaching 100% of our recommended monthly support. If you've been considering partnering with us, this would be a meaningful time to do so. You can use the "Donate Now" button at the top of this email. We're humbled by your generosity and truly thank God for each of you.
In Christ,
Geoff Husa
