Mibu Trip Update: Progress, Setbacks, and Continued Trust

Dear friends,

Thank you to everyone who has been praying for the recent trip into Mibu to restore the internet system. We are so grateful for your prayers.

The flight into Mibu went smoothly, and the team was able to accomplish several important tasks. Unfortunately, the internet was not able to be restored due to an equipment malfunction. This was especially discouraging because this particular piece of equipment had somewhat recently been replaced at significant cost.

The malfunctioning equipment has been removed, and the team is now exploring possible solutions other than full replacement. At this point, we are unsure how hopeful those alternatives are. It may be necessary to purchase new equipment again, which would likely cost somewhere between $1,000–$2,000 (hopefully not more). Once that is resolved, we will need to arrange another flight to bring the team back in to attempt to bring the system online again.

While this outcome was disappointing, we are incredibly thankful for those serving alongside us. Our IT department sent someone in to troubleshoot, and several others took the opportunity to go in as well—helping with the lawnmower and conducting an important airstrip check. We're grateful for the pilot who flew them safely, and for the mechanics who keep the aircraft operational. And of course there are many of you who are doing the work of prayer, and who contribute their finances. It truly is a team effort.

Even though the internet failure leaves a real gap in communication—one that both we and the leaders in Mibu feel deeply—we are resting in the truth that God knows. He is good. He loves His church in Mibu. And this situation is not outside of His hands. We continue to trust Him for wisdom, provision, and the right path forward.

As for the lawnmower: further troubleshooting is needed there as well. It's an all-electric, walk-behind mower, and currently one of the blades is not spinning properly. Please pray that Josh Simmons can determine what is wrong and find a workable solution.

Thank you again for your faithful prayers—not only for this specific situation but for the ministry as a whole. Please continue to lift these things before the Lord with us.

With gratitude,

Geoff

Upcoming Flight & A Call to Prayer for the Church in Mibu

Dear friends,

Greetings to all of you. I wanted to reach out with an important upcoming event and a few significant prayer needs.

✈️ Feb 19 – Flight into Mibu

On February 19 (February 18 here in the U.S.), we've been able to arrange a flight into Mibu to attempt to restore the internet system. Two individuals will be flying in, including an IT specialist who is hoping to get our existing system back online.

There are many logistics involved in something like this, so we would deeply appreciate your prayers:

  • The lawnmower not working has been a big deal as well, so, that's another thing we're hoping some time can be allocated to as a secondary priority to getting the internet online. Pray for that too please.

We are asking you to keep that date in mind and pray that this essential system can be made functional again. Internet access plays a key role in both communication and ministry continuity.

🙏 Growing Discouragement in the Church

In addition to the technical situation, I've begun to sense something heavier developing spiritually. The limited communication I've been receiving indicates discouragement is beginning to set in among some of the church and leaders.

Much of this likely ties back to Chris's sudden departure. The reduction in external support and presence has been significant. What I'm hearing suggests an increase in gambling, alcohol consumption, and sexual promiscuity in some areas. Fewer men are attending church meetings. Some leaders are feeling pressure and criticism from within the community.

I don't have many details — only the growing sense that discouragement and spiritual fatigue are creeping in. It would be understandable if some feel abandoned. This is certainly a trying season. At the same time, I remain convinced that the Lord can use even this for the church's long-term strengthening and maturity. May the church in Mibu feel the Lord's continued presence, and know that he'll never abandon them, but only continue to form them and draw them closer to their future hope in Him.

Please pray for:

🌱 Looking Ahead: A Summer Visit

I had hoped to travel to Mibu this spring, but the necessary pieces simply are not in place. I am now prioritizing a trip sometime this summer.

Angie is also planning to be in PNG during that window and hopes to make a brief visit into Mibu to say some proper goodbyes. Please pray for the finances and logistics for this trip to come together, and that it would be deeply encouraging and fruitful for the church.

Thank you for continuing to stand with us through your prayers and faithful financial partnership. We are deeply grateful for the many who have helped carry this ministry forward during such a pivotal season. As we look ahead—with important travel, technical needs, and ongoing translation and lesson development work—we are still working toward reaching 100% of our recommended monthly support. If you've been considering partnering with us, this would be a meaningful time to do so. You can use the "Donate Now" button at the top of this email. We're humbled by your generosity and truly thank God for each of you.

In Christ,

Geoff Husa

A Prayer Request from Mibu: Connectivity & Continued Ministry

Dear friends,

I wanted to send a brief update and ask for your prayers regarding an important situation affecting the ministry in Mibu.

While I've been gaining momentum on developing the Revelation lessons, one significant challenge has arisen: the internet connection in Mibu was lost recently and without warning. Because of some ongoing security concerns in the area, we've intentionally kept this issue off of social media, but we felt it appropriate to share it here with you as a trusted group of prayer partners.

We believe the internet has played an important role in maintaining both community safety and stability over the past year. The ability to communicate quickly with leadership, authorities, and one another has mattered greatly, and its absence is deeply felt.

From a ministry perspective, this has also been difficult. Internet access is my primary means of continuing to serve the church in Mibu from afar. I normally meet regularly with church leaders for discipleship, training, and counsel. As I've been working through the Revelation lessons, my hope was to involve teachers in Mibu directly in the process—both to strengthen the lessons and to deepen discipleship. Losing that connection has been discouraging.

That said, we are thankful that the community does still have an emergency beacon, which allows for short text communication when necessary. While limited, it does provide a basic lifeline.

We are currently working with our IT department and mission leadership to explore a solution for restoring internet service. At this point, the timeline is uncertain. Resolving the issue will require travel into and out of Mibu by someone with the right technical expertise, which involves additional logistics and expense. There is also the possibility that the solution may not be immediately implementable, potentially requiring follow-up trips. This is the challenge of maintaining technical equipment in such remote locations.

We are asking you to pray specifically for:
      •     wisdom and clarity as plans are made
      •     provision for the finances needed to address this issue
      •     safety for the community
      •     discernment for the right people involved
      •     patience and trust as we wait on the Lord's timing

We know that God sees and knows all of this. He is in control. He is our sustainer and provider, and we are choosing to rest in our dependence on Him, even when solutions feel uncertain from our perspective.

Thank you, as always, for standing with us through prayer and generous support. We are continually humbled by your faithfulness and encouragement, and we thank God for you often.

With gratitude,
Geoff (for the Husa family)
